Senior Production Engineering

You bring offshore wind to life — from the first schedule to the final results. As a Senior Production Engineer at Van Oord, your work shapes the way we install foundations and wind turbines on some of the world’s most complex projects. You think ahead, make data-driven decisions and turn technical challenges into smart solutions. Whether you're supporting tenders or execution, your insights power real progress — for our vessels, our teams and the energy transition.

THE POSITION

As a Senior Production Engineer Foundations & WTGs You will work in either tendering or in the project support team.

In tendering you guide the production engineers of two tender teams and are end responsible for the production results. Together you create the production estimates which forms the basis for the execution schedule and cost estimate. Trade-offs are prepared in collaboration with the tender team to determine the most competitive work method (e.g. feeder vs shuttle). The chosen solution is detailed by aligning with different stakeholders (Metocean, Operations, Geotech, hydrodynamic).

In addition you will drive improvements in our tendering approach.

During the execution phase the production support department (PSD) is responsible for updating the production estimates and prepare alternative work methods to improve the execution method. Production dashboards are prepared to provide insight into asset performance. If deviations between the estimate and actuals are observed the rootcause is identified. The production department performs vessel visits to support this process.

YOUR IMPACT

As a Senior Production Engineer Foundations and WTGs, you may occasionally (regular while in PSD) visit projects in progress to advise the project team and ship's crew on possible optimisations. During these visits, you will actively monitor the production and installation process and working methods. This is to improve knowledge sharing within the company and to record (practical) knowledge in the company's production databases as a basis for future tenders.

  • Interpreting and analysing large amounts of project and data.
  • Supporting tender and project teams in both tendering and implementation.
  • Designing efficient and competitive production processes, including equipment and logistics choices. Including complex interdependencies between different campaign.
  • Use and further development of internal software for production estimates.
  • Preparing and presenting deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Visiting projects and offshore equipment to monitor processes in real time and advise on optimisations.
  • Recording and sharing practical knowledge to improve future tenders and project implementation.

    Your workplace
    The location for the Senior Production Engineer Foundations and  WTGs is in Gorinchem. You will be part of the Productline Foundations and WTGs within the Tendering and Engineering (T&E) department. The team has an open, dynamic and informal atmosphere, where collaboration and mutual support are important values.

ABOUT YOU

You have the desire and interest to further develop yourself as an all-round sparring partner for Tender and Project Managers and Engineers and have the drive to enthusiastically present solutions in discussions with potential (internal) Clients. You have strong analytical skills, a creative and solution-oriented approach and the ability to keep ‘the big picture’ in mind and think ahead. In addition, you bring the following:

  • a minimum Bachelor degree, preferably MSc Civil Engineering or MSc Mechanical Engineering;
  • 5 years of experience in a similar position;
  • strong interest in mechanical systems;
  • good ability to work within a (tender) team, but also to work independently;
  • investigative, creative, structured and flexible approach to work;
  • excellent command of the English language;
  • willingness to work on projects all over the world.

WE OFFER

Working in an international, highly demanding and dynamic organisation, with the possibility to truly have impact on our business, people and environment. We offer a complete package with excellent secondary employment benefits. The package includes among other things:
