Senior Internal Communication Advisor

THE POSITION

As Senior Internal Communication Advisor, you are a trusted strategic partner for leadership and a driving force behind organisation wide communication initiatives. You operate at the intersection of business strategy, change and employee engagement.

You work within the Stakeholders and Sustainability team and report to the Lead Internal Communication, with a strong focus on HR topics and in close alignment with the CPO. In this role, you independently lead complex communication programmes and advise senior stakeholders across the organisation. You challenge, guide and support leaders in translating strategy into communication that creates understanding, alignment and action.

You oversee communication from strategy to execution and know how to navigate a dynamic international environment with multiple priorities and stakeholders. You bring structure, clarity and direction while continuously strengthening the impact of internal communication across Van Oord.

YOUR IMPACT

You will:

  • Lead and develop strategic communication approaches for organisation wide programmes, change initiatives and business priorities
  • Act as a senior advisor to management and project leadership on complex communication and stakeholder challenges
  • Translate business strategy into compelling narratives and communication strategies across channels and audiences
  • Take ownership of high impact communication projects from concept to execution, including governance and stakeholder alignment
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen communication effectiveness, employee engagement and organisational connection

Through your work, communication becomes a strategic enabler for collaboration, engagement and transformation across Van Oord.

YOUR WORKPLACE

You will join the Stakeholders and Sustainability team in Rotterdam. A team that believes communication plays a critical role in shaping culture, leadership and organisational success.

You work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, from executive leadership to operational teams worldwide. The environment is international, dynamic and collaborative, with a strong focus on ownership and professionalism.

ABOUT YOU

You are a senior communication professional with strong business acumen and the confidence to advise at management level. You combine strategic insight with a hands on mentality and know how to operate and execute independently in a complex stakeholder environment.

You bring:

  • Extensive experience in internal communication within a corporate, international or project driven environment
  • HBO or WO level education, preferably in communication, corporate communication or a related field
  • Strong experience with change communication, stakeholder management and organisational transformation
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build relationships across all organisational levels
  • Excellent command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken

You are proactive, politically sensitive and able to influence with confidence. You take ownership naturally, challenge constructively and know how to create impact through communication.

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities, seniority and experience
  • Attractive travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home working allowance (€2.40 per day)
