THE POSITION

Every year, Van Oord employees embark on international assignments that take them across continents and cultures. These assignments come with a wide range of administrative processes, all of which require accuracy, careful coordination and a people-focused approach. As Officer Expat Desk, you play a key role in making sure every assignment is set up for success. From preparing contracts and arranging assignment conditions to managing documentation, you ensure that every detail is organised, compliant and completed throughout the entire assignment lifecycle.

In this role, you provide clarity and support to colleagues while ensuring that all international assignment processes run smoothly from start to finish. You prepare and update assignment contracts and related documentation, determine the applicable allowances and insurance arrangements, and ensure these are processed correctly. You also monitor leave entitlements and family-related matters associated with international assignments. Throughout the process, you act as a reliable point of contact, offering clear communication, practical guidance and trusted support to employees embarking on their international journey.

YOUR WORKPLACE

You’ll work from our Rotterdam office, surrounded by experienced professionals who share a hands-on, open and collaborative mindset. You’ll liaise with departments across the organisation, including HR, Planning and Pool Management, to ensure alignment and care in every assignment. YOUR IMPACT

In this role, you ensure that international assignments run smoothly from start to finish.. As the go-to person for documentation and practical arrangements, you are a trusted source of support behind the scenes. In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate and execute the administrative processes throughout the entire international assignment lifecycle.
  • Prepare and maintain assignment contracts and related documentation.
  • Determine and accurately process applicable allowances and insurance arrangements.
  • Monitor leave entitlements and family-related matters associated with international assignments.
  • Support colleagues with clear communication, practical guidance and helpful advice.

ABOUT YOU

You’re an enthusiastic professional who brings order to complexity. You enjoy supporting others, keeping processes clear and documentation correct. You take pride in being accurate, helpful and reliable — even when things move quickly. On top of this you:

  • You have a vocational (MBO) or higher professional (HBO) level of education, or equivalent experience
  • You have several years of experience in a comparable administrative role
  • You like working in an international environment and supporting colleagues
  • You are organised, communicative and service-minded
  • You speak and write English fluently; Dutch is a plus

 • Attractive travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home working allowance (€2.40 per day)
