Project Accountant

THE POSITION

The Project Accountant is responsible for ensuring efficient project accounting operations, accurate financial reporting, and compliance with accounting policies and guidelines. Their role focuses on cost transparency, cost awareness, and cost control. You will manage the accounting for a wide array of small and medium sized projects The Project Accountant will manage projects Dredging and Infrastructure unit within Europe. 

YOUR IMPACT

As Project Accountant, you ensure that project finances are accurate, transparent and under control throughout the entire project lifecycle. You provide reliable financial insights that support informed decision making and help project teams stay in control of costs and performance. By working closely with project managers, controllers and other stakeholders, you contribute to the successful delivery of projects across Europe.

  • Manage the financial administration of projects by setting up project structures, monitoring costs and preparing accurate financial reports.
  • Ensure reliable accounting by managing accruals, General Overhead accounting, Percentage of Completion accounting and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Support efficient financial processes by coordinating purchase orders, invoicing, vendor payments, period end closings and financial audits.
  • Monitor working capital, cash flow and the deployment of equipment and materials to provide clear financial insights and strengthen cost control.
  • Collaborate with Business Unit Management, Project Managers and Controllers while continuously developing your expertise through training and knowledge sharing.

ABOUT YOU

You work accurately, flexibly and enjoy tackle issues and solving problems when they arise. You see the importance of qualitative data for decision-making, and do not shy away from a good discussion. You also like to work together with others, can deliver the right quality that meets the needs of the team and you like to work on process improvements.

Furthermore, you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Economics or Accounting, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 years in accounting roles, preferably within a project environment.
  • Experience working with a shared service center setup is an advantage
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills (customers,partners and internal management)
