HR Business Partner SMD Crew

As HR Business Partner Crew you help the people who bring our vessels to life. You give teams the clarity, trust and support they need to grow. You work at the heart of our global maritime work where every decision you make strengthens the crews who build the future with us. You guide people through change, create space for development and help our colleagues feel proud of the impact they make at sea and onshore.

THE POSITION

The Ship Management Department designs, builds, maintains and operates our global fleet. These vessels work on complex maritime projects in dredging, infrastructure and offshore energy. Your work supports the Crew department who keep our vessels safe, well staffed and ready for the next challenge. You partner with the HR Manager SMD and the wider SMD HR team to shape the People agenda and connect business goals with people development. You work closely with our Centres of Expertise to bring specialist knowledge into daily work.

YOUR IMPACT

You strengthen the Crew organisation by coaching leaders, guiding workforce decisions and helping teams grow. You use people data to support decisions and create plans that help colleagues perform with confidence. You are responsible for:

- Supporting the implementation of both the business and personnel strategy of the SMD department and integrating Van Oord's overall HR strategy, specifically into the business strategy;
- Leading specific HR projects;
- Developing HR/People plans for the SMD department for which you are the HRBP, including the annual HR cycle, and ensuring sustainability and relevance by providing relevant People data and insights/information;
- Advising on and collaborating in the design and implementation of specific HR programs/projects;
- Collaborating with the SMD HR manager, other HR business partners and advisors, and CoEs for cross-functional collaboration to address the company's challenges and vice versa;

- Providing solutions in the areas of workforce, talent, and organizational matters within SMD.

Your workplace

Your home base is our Rotterdam office where you work closely with HR colleagues and the Crew teams. The role extends beyond the office environment, occasionally you'll visit projects and/or ships, have important conversations, and immerse yourself in the maritime setting.

As HR business partner, you report directly to the HR manager of SMD and work closely with her to influence the SMD People agenda, with the aim of achieving results and objectives. The SMD HR team consists of 1 HR manager, 2 HR business partners, and 4 HR advisors. For specific expertise in recruitment and compensation & benefits we are supported by our Centers of Expertise (CoEs), where you can always seek advice.

ABOUT YOU

In our search for a new HR Business Partner for our team, we are looking for an experienced colleague who is a navigator, approachable and service-oriented, has self-starting ability, and is ready to navigate the challenges of the maritime industry. Your ability to uncover 'the question behind the question' is your compass, showcasing your intuitive understanding of human dynamics. With a balance of sensitivity and resilience, you are not afraid to navigate the waters of difficult conversations. By embracing a hands-on mentality, you understand that success often requires dedication. In addition, you will also bring:

 * You have a relevant degree (bachelor/master) in Human Resources;
 * At least 7 years of relevant HR business experience in a complex international project organization;
 * Knowledge of Dutch laws and regulations;
 * Excellent command of both spoken and written English.

WE OFFER

We offer you a position in which you will have an important contribution to our mission 'building a better world for future generations'. In addition, we offer you:

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience;
  • Additional allowances for working on board / on project locations abroad;
  • Travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home office allowance (€2,15 per day);
  • 32 leave days per year;
  • Variable bonus;
  • Pension scheme;
  • Collective health insurance (optional);
  • Flexible working from home policy, 2 days a week when working on a full-time basis;
  • Extensive learning and (personal) development possibilities, including a wide range of online courses via Goodhabitz;
  • You can join communities, like Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women and the Van Oord staff association;
