HR Advisor Tendering & Engineering

As an HR Advisor for our T&E department you will play a crucial role in offering comprehensive HR advice and operational support. Your primary responsibility is to ensure timely and compliant execution of HR policies and processes, ensuring our personnel feel seamlessly integrated into the organization.

THE POSITION

The T&E department is the technical backbone of the organisation. The global team of over 650 colleagues is responsible for successful tendering and engineering across our projects, from the tender phase all the way through to project completion.

The T&E department is interwoven in the tapestry of all projects and departments of Van Oord. We provide client value by its services, capabilities and solutions in every phase of all our projects, from early contractor involvement, tender, operations to after care.

You will find all subject matter experts on a wide variety of disciplines within engineering, estimating, tendering on all infra and marine engineering related topics. We also provide services in risk, planning, systems engineering, data engineering and graphic design (CAD).

YOUR IMPACT

Dive into the heart of HR as you manage the complexities of absenteeism, ensuring adherence to both local and international employment conditions. You will be performing operational HR tasks as well as providing advise directly to employees and your colleagues. Additionally, working with the HR Group, you will be part of the implementation of Workday and contribute to our journey towards HR excellence for the upcoming years.

Furthermore:

  • Providing employee relations support and advice on topics such as absence, well-being, engagement, performance, complaints and disciplinary matters, in alignment with HR policies, standards and procedures;
  • Working closely with the HR Business Partners and team leads to deliver consistent, tactically sound front-line HR advice with clear business impact;
  • Supporting the effective execution of the HR cycle, both administratively and advisory, and identifying opportunities to improve policies and process
  • Collaborating with the wider HR team to enhance ways of working and foster an optimal employee experience;
  • Contributing to HR projects and the ongoing Workday implementation as part of the broader HR excellence journey.

    The HR Business team consists of approximately 30 colleagues, working for different departments and business units. You will report to the Manager HR Project Office & Operating Departments. Your role extends beyond the office environment – you will occasionally visit projects and/or ships, engage in crucial conversations, and immerse yourself in the maritime environment.

ABOUT YOU

In our quest for a new HR Advisor to join our team, we are seeking an HR professional who is approachable, action-oriented, and service-focused, ready to navigate challenges. Your ability to uncover the 'question behind the question' is your compass, demonstrating your intuitive understanding of human dynamics. Balancing sensitivity with resilience, you are not afraid to navigate the waters of difficult conversations. Embracing a roll-up-your-sleeves mentality, you recognize that success often requires hands-on dedication.

  • Relevant HR related diploma (Bachelor's/Master's degree);
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant HR advisory work experience in a complex, international project organization;
  • Knowledge of Dutch employment law;
  • Fluency in Dutch and English.

WE OFFER

At Van Oord, you will contribute to our mission: building a better world for future generations. We offer:

  • Competitive salary based on experience and responsibilities;
  • Travel allowance (€0.31/km) and home office allowance (€2.15/day);
  • 32 leave days per year;
  • Variable bonus;
  • Pension scheme;
  • Optional collective health insurance;
  • Flexible hybrid working policy (up to 2 days/week from home);
  • Extensive learning and development opportunities, including GoodHabitz online courses. Access to communities like Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women, and the staff association. Participation in sports and social events (e.g. winter sports, sailing weekends, cycling tours).
