HR Advisor Project Office

Are you an HR professional who thrives in a complex, project-driven organisation where operational excellence and people impact go hand in hand? As HR Advisor within our Project Office, you support key teams such as Pool Management, Staff Planning and Tender & Project Support. You play an essential role in ensuring our HR processes run smoothly, compliantly and consistently across the organisation.

THE POSITION

As HR Advisor Project Office, you provide both operational HR support and hands-on HR advice to managers and employees. You ensure that HR policies, processes and procedures are executed accurately and on time, contributing to a well-functioning and well-supported workforce.

The Project Office is the central hub for project management within the organisation. It enables project excellence by bringing together expertise and ensuring close collaboration between Business Units and supporting departments.

Within the Project Office, key teams include:

  • Pool Management & Staff Planning – securing the right project teams now and in the future
  • Internal Projects – driving standardised ways of working and supporting efficient project start-up
  • Tender & Project Support Team – providing tools, processes and support to deliver projects on time and within budget

YOUR IMPACT

In this role, you are at the heart of HR operations in an international environment. You ensure high-quality HR service delivery while actively contributing to the development and improvement of HR processes and systems.

Together with the HR team, you also play a role in the implementation and optimisation of Workday, supporting the broader journey towards HR Excellence.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Advising managers and employees on HR topics such as absence, well-being, engagement, performance management, complaints, disciplinary cases and personal development
  • Managing employee relations cases and ensuring compliance with employment law and internal policies
  • Supporting managers in the consistent execution of HR policies, standards and procedures
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of HR processes and ways of working
  • Supporting the annual HR cycle (e.g. performance, development and review processes)
  • Collaborating with HR colleagues to foster an effective and engaging working environment

    Your workplace
You will be part of the HR Business team, consisting of approximately 30 colleagues supporting various departments and business units.

You report to the HR Manager Project Office & Operating Departments.

Your role is not limited to the office environment. You will occasionally visit projects and vessels, allowing you to connect directly with operations and gain insight into the maritime context in which the organisation operates.

ABOUT YOU

You are a service-oriented and approachable HR professional who knows how to balance operational focus with advisory strength. You are comfortable navigating complex situations and know how to uncover the underlying question behind an HR request.

You bring a hands-on mindset and are confident in handling sensitive conversations with care and professionalism.

In addition, you bring:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HR or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience as an HR Advisor in a complex international and/or project-driven organisation
  • Knowledge of Dutch employment law
  • Fluency in Dutch and English
  • A proactive, resilient and pragmatic working style

WE OFFER

A role where you contribute to our mission: building a better world for future generations, while developing yourself in an international and ambitious environment.

In addition, we offer:

  • A challenging role within a global organisation with impact
  • Competitive salary based on experience and responsibilities
  • 32 holidays per year
  • Variable bonus
  • Pension scheme
  • Travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home working allowance (€2.40 per day)
  • Flexible hybrid working (2 days per week from home)
  • Extensive learning & development opportunities (including GoodHabitz)
  • Optional collective health insurance
  • Access to internal communities (e.g. Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women, staff association)
  • Sports and social activities (e.g. skiing trips, sailing weekends, cycling events)
