2nd Engineer Water Injection Dredgers (< 500 GT)

Are you our new Second Engineer on our Water Injection Dredgers? Do you enjoy working with advanced equipment and taking full technical responsibility on board? Then this could be the role for you.

THE POSITION

As Second Engineer on our Water Injection Dredgers you are the technical expert on board. You ensure that the dredging and propulsion systems run smoothly and reliably. As the only engineer on board you carry full technical responsibility. You work independently, with support from our technical specialists on shore when needed.

You keep our automated systems sharp, carry out maintenance and contribute ideas for smart improvements. This way you directly support the performance of our water injection dredgers and help Van Oord set the standard in innovative dredging worldwide.

On board your focus is on safety, technology and teamwork. You take on technical challenges, keep systems in top condition and ensure clear documentation and reporting. Thanks to your expertise our vessels continue to perform reliably, wherever they operate.

Water Injection Dredging is a technique in itself. During this process the seabed is fluidised, allowing sediment to be moved efficiently and precisely.

YOUR IMPACT

You make sure our vessel performs at its best every day while keeping people and the environment safe.

• You lead maintenance, troubleshooting and improvement of the automated water injection system, from pumps to nozzles, ensuring optimal performance
 • You protect your team and the environment by strictly following safety procedures and regulations
 • You work closely with the crew to ensure every operation runs smoothly
 • You monitor operational data, provide clear reports and help identify and resolve issues

YOUR WORKPLACE

You work on board one of our highly automated water injection vessels. You are part of a small team of 5 to 7 crew members and work in a 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off rotation.

The environment is dynamic and international, focused on technical excellence. You operate and optimise modern computer controlled dredging systems and advanced automation technology. Every day offers learning opportunities and the chance to further develop advanced maritime technology.

ABOUT YOU

You have knowledge of electrical systems. You work independently, focus on solutions and take ownership of the engine room.

• You hold a valid COC Second Engineer and all required certificates
 • You have proven experience as a Second Engineer or Chief Engineer
 • You have a passion for technology, automation and innovation
 • You have strong problem solving skills and can act quickly when needed
 • Experience on DP vessels is a plus
