In the role of Trainer and Instructor within the Training & Simulator Centre you play a key role in developing realistic simulation programmes and preparing colleagues for work on board and on projects. You contribute to creating effective learning experiences and strengthening knowledge, skills and performance across the organisation.
You are responsible for developing and maintaining high quality simulation programmes and training materials on our inhouse simulators. You translate complex technical challenges into realistic scenarios for both junior and experienced crew members as well as staff. You deliver training, transfer knowledge and assess certified programmes, while also acting as a point of contact for operational and production related questions. In addition, you continuously work on maintaining and improving the simulators, training programmes and the overall learning environment, including supporting and guiding visitors.
Within the Training & Simulator Centre, processes are simulated as realistically as possible using implemented mission equipment. This includes activities such as jacking vessels, operating cranes for the installation of monopiles, accurately positioning cables on the seabed and rock placement, all of which are central to the training programmes.
In this role, you make a direct impact on the quality, safety and performance of our operations. You:
• Ensure colleagues are well prepared and confident when starting on board and on projects
• Strengthen knowledge, skills and behaviour through realistic and purposeful simulations
• Translate complex technical challenges into practical and effective learning experiences
• Contribute to a safe working environment by training critical operational scenarios
• Continuously improve training programmes and the learning environment based on operational insights and feedback
You have a strong technical foundation and feel at home in a maritime environment. You enjoy sharing knowledge and helping others grow in their profession. You combine technical expertise with a practical and solution oriented approach.
In addition, you bring:
• HBO level of working and thinking or equivalent practical experience
• Proven expertise in maritime engineering and experience with complex technical challenges
• Experience in developing and delivering training programmes and simulation exercises
• Affinity with simulators and translating real life practice into realistic training scenarios
• The ability to clearly transfer knowledge and guide others in their development
• A proactive and solution oriented mindset with a focus on quality and safety
• Willingness to work on board for short periods, offshore or abroad
• Good command of the English language, both spoken and written
At Van Oord, you will have the opportunity to develop your talents and contribute to impactful projects worldwide.
We offer:
• Room for innovation, initiative and personal development
• Competitive employment conditions and opportunities for training and growth
• A key role in delivering future oriented maritime projects and strategic objectives

• 32 holidays per year
• Variable bonus
• Pension scheme
• Optional collective health insurance
• Flexible hybrid working (2 days per week from home)
• Extensive learning and development opportunities, including GoodHabitz online courses
