THE POSITION
As 2nd Engineer in our Ship Management Department, you’ll join our international fleet and will work on a 12-hours rotation schedule. Working closely with the Chief Engineer, you’ll manage and optimise the ship's technical systems. If assigned as Day Engineer, you take the lead in planning and executing maintenance projects on board.
YOUR IMPACT
As a 2nd Engineer, you are responsible for the condition and maintenance of the technical installations on board the assigned vessel. You also:
- Maintain, optimize, and improve the engine room and technical systems in close cooperation with the Chief Engineer.
- Perform regular maintenance and repairs on technical installations to ensure optimal operation.
- Instruct, organize, guide, and motivate assigned crew members.
- Contribute to a positive work atmosphere and crew development.
- Maintain ship administration according to Van Oord standards;
- Prepare, plan, and execute specific maintenance projects as a Day-Engineer.

ABOUT YOU
You combine solid engineering knowledge with a proactive, team-focused mindset and the ability to work in a dynamic offshore environment. You also bring:
- A qualification in Marine Engineering at vocational or higher level;
- At least 3 years of experience as 2nd Engineer;
- Fluent in English and permitted to work in EU countries;
- Specific knowledge of systems such as dredging gear, cranes, ROVs or LNG is a plus;
- Flexible, resilient and able to lead on board when needed.
