Maintenance Engineer

Do you want to contribute to the future-proof maintenance of our fleet? Are you analytically strong and driven to improve maintenance based on facts, trends and operational data? Then this role might be for you.

THE POSITION

As a Maintenance Engineer, you play a key role in analysing and optimising the maintenance of our existing vessels. You contribute to the development of a maintenance strategy that is increasingly data-driven, based on sensor data, failure reports, operational profiles and historical maintenance information.

Using RAMS analyses, technical data and lessons learned, you translate raw information into concrete improvements in availability, reliability and maintainability. You identify trends and deviations in measurement data and convert these insights into predictive maintenance recommendations: performing maintenance when it is truly required, rather than at fixed intervals.

You work closely with colleagues within the Maintenance Engineering team in Rotterdam. With their strong operational experience, you bridge the gap between data analysis and practical execution.

YOUR IMPACT

In this role, you will:

  • Analyse operational measurement data (such as vibrations, temperatures, loads and running hours) to predict maintenance needs and identify risks at an early stage;
  • Propose concrete maintenance optimisations based on data trends and RAMS insights;
  • Develop and improve predictive maintenance models for existing vessels;
  • Collaborate closely with operational teams to translate failures and deviations into structural improvements in processes and component reliability;
  • Contribute actively to improving safety and availability within the RAMS framework;

Support decision-making by presenting clear analyses and recommendations to tactical and operational stakeholders.

ABOUT YOU

You are an analytical Maintenance Engineer who can translate complex technical insights into clear and actionable recommendations. You work in a structured manner, are comfortable working with data and feel responsible for sustainable improvements.

In addition:

  • You have experience with technical data analysis within an operational or asset-intensive environment;
  • You understand risk and availability analyses and know how to apply them to existing assets;
  • You preferably have experience with predictive maintenance techniques or interpreting sensor data;
  • You have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.

WE OFFER

At Van Oord, you’ll contribute to our mission: building a better world for future generations. We offer:

  • Competitive salary based on experience and responsibilities;
  • Travel allowance (€0.31/km) and home office allowance (€2.15/day);
  • 32 leave days per year;
  • Variable bonus;
  • Pension scheme;
  • Optional collective health insurance;
  • Flexible hybrid working policy (up to 2 days/week from home);

Extensive learning and development opportunities, including GoodHabitz online courses. Access to communities like Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women, and the staff association. Participation in sports and social events (e.g. winter sports, sailing weekends, cycling tours).
