Working on various offshore projects and exploring the world at the same time. That’s the life of a Superintendent Offshore Pipeline Installation at Van Oord. And next to that you will work in a close hard working team who, next to the hard work, together create some moments to relax as well.
Your work is very diverse and includes international offshore projects that vary in scope. One moment you are digging a trench in Saudi Arabia and the next project you are building a cofferdam in Mexico, laying a pipeline in Guyana or dumping rocks in Australia. Working on projects brings a dynamic environment. All disciplines are working together in a team of 50-500 employees with the same goal in mind. This creates a close relationship between the team. Next to the hard work, they make time for e.g. a nice evening of karaoke, a poker tournament or a volleyball match on your day off.
As a Superintendent, you are responsible for the preparation, execution and progress of the project. While doing this, you take into account specific project requirements and safety. Without your efforts, the project team and crew will not have sufficient information and/or resources to do their job. You are the linking pin between project management and operations. You ensure efficient execution of the project.
Most of the time you will be working in a rotational schedule at one of our project locations or on board of our vessels. During the preparation phase you may be assigned to work at our Gorinchem office. The projects vary in content from trenching & backfilling, pipeline installation, cofferdam installation to SBMs, etc. When informing and involving the project team, crew, client and other stakeholders, your communication skills and drive are very useful. And thanks to your independency and pro activity, all challenges are solved as quickly as possible. Your decisiveness helps the team achieve an optimal result. Furthermore, for the role as a superintendent, you have:
