YOUR IMPACT

As Office Manager for our Ship Management Department (SMD), you are the first point of contact for the secretariat for the SMD department. You not only provide extensive secretarial and administrative support, you also manage the team of department secretaries. You maintain an operational overview of the entire secretariat, coordinate the work and are the first point of contact for the SMD director.

You work independently, stay focused in a dynamic environment and combine strong organizational skills with a balance between independent work and teamwork. In your role, you understand what is needed and not just what is desired. With your pro-activity, you show initiative and solve problems before they arise. Independently coordinate complex appointment schedules for the director and the management team and manage the associated agendas;

  • Proactively support the department by answering questions from colleagues and accurately archiving correspondence;
  • Organize meetings with the associated facilities;
  • Take minutes during management meetings;
  • Arrange business trips such as booking flights, accommodation and applying for visas.

Your workplace

The SMD department manages all of Van Oord's ships and equipment. This department therefore consists of approximately 2,500 people, working all over the world. Your location will be our office in Rotterdam.

You are a collegial, flexible Office Manager with an open and service-oriented attitude. You have good communication skills, are accurate and proactive. You dare to make decisions and are an organizer who looks ahead.

  • You have at least MBO+ work and thinking level, preferably with a secretarial education;
  • At least 5 years of recent experience in a similar role, preferably within a large international organization;
  • Availability for at least 36 hours per week;
  • Technical affinity is a plus;
  • Excellent command of both Dutch and English in speaking and writing;
