Project Controller

THE POSITION

For the Tender and Projects Management department, we are looking for a Project Controller to strengthen our Finance & Control team, within the business unit of Dredging and Infrastructure. The position is based in partially on a project locations in the Netherlands and partially in our Rotterdam office. 


The primary purpose of this role is to act as the business partner to the projects by taking overall control and responsibility of the projects financial performance, by challenging and supporting project management in tactical and operational decision-making, and by ensuring compliance with Risk & Internal Control Frameworks.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Responsible for the cash flow and the financial position of projects, in accordance with the contractual agreements and variations. 
  • Monitoring and quarterly reporting on progress and completion of the contract. 
  • Acting as a financial and contractual business partner for the Director and providing financial advice. 
  • To challenge project management on short and long term financial strategy.  
  • Providing financial forecasts, scenario analysis and updates on progress.  
  • Ensuring that all financial and contractual aspects and risks of designated projects during the contract are implemented and monitored, guarantees, payment risk, sub-contractor due diligence, etc.  
  • Managing and monitoring cash, cash flow forecasting of the contract/projects.  
  • Ensuring accurate completion of tax returns and tax filing of the contract.

You are able to show that you are agile, resilient and flexible with an ability to react quickly to a changing environment. Attention to detail and ability to drive process to completion are very important and you have a natural drive and commitment to liaise with business stakeholders. Further, you have the following competencies: 

  • Preferable experience with long-term maintenance contracts 
  • Accurate, analytical and decisive 
  • Digitally savvy  
  • Bachelor degree in business administration or economics 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in an business environment 
  • Relevant experience in a project environment is a preference 
  • Fluency in Dutch language & proficient in English, verbal as well as written
