As HR Business Partner for the Offshore Energy Business Unit and Ocean Health business line, you will play a pivotal role in aligning HR strategies with business goals and the People Plan. You support OFE line managers and OH team in talent management, employee relations, and organizational development, ensuring compliance with policies and driving impactful HR initiatives across the unit.
Your success lies in close collaboration with the HR Director Offshore Energy & Supporting Functions, business leaders, team leads, and the HR Centers of Expertise (CoEs) and HR Operations. You influence the people and talent agenda to drive business outcomes and support strategic priorities across global Offshore Energy projects.
Your responsibilities span tactical and strategic HR topics, including leadership development, coaching, strategic workforce planning, team composition, performance management, employee engagement, DEI, sickness absence management, organizational effectiveness, values and culture, and change management. You report to the HR Director Offshore Energy & Supporting Functions and are supported by our HR Services department. You hold end-to-end responsibility for correct HR administration within your scope.
You promote the adoption of the HR operating model, ensuring employees and managers feel supported by the global HR function. You use HR data and people analytics to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
You will be based in Gorinchem with approx. one (1) HR business collaboration + Ocean Health support day per week in Rotterdam and occasional visits to offshore projects and vessels. You will engage in meaningful conversations and immerse yourself in the dynamic Offshore Energy (OFE) and Ocean Health (OH) environment.
The HR partnering team consists of approximately 30 colleagues across departments and business units. You will report to the HR Director Offshore Energy and work closely together to shape the people agenda and drive business outcomes. As HR Business Partner for OFE and Ocean Health, you will manage and coordinate the HR Advisors for OFE UK and OFE Germany ensuring alignment across geographies and consistency in HR Delivery. For specialized topics like recruitment or compensation & benefits, you’ll collaborate with our Centers of Expertise (CoEs).
We’re looking for an HR professional who is a navigator—approachable, action-oriented, and service-minded. You understand the human dynamics behind business challenges and are comfortable with difficult conversations. You are hands-on, resilient, and ready to make a difference.
Your credentials:

- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant HR experience in a complex international (project) organization.
- Resilient, proactive, solution-oriented, strategic and pragmatic, DEI-aware, and comfortable in a matrix organization.
- Preferably familiar with Dutch labor laws and regulations.
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
At Van Oord, you’ll contribute to our mission: building a better world for future generations.
We offer:
- Competitive salary based on experience and responsibilities.
- Travel allowance (€0.31/km) and home office allowance (€2.40/day).
