Chief Officer DPO

Ready to take the lead at sea? As Chief Officer on board of our advanced offshore vessels, you will help shape resilient energy infrastructure across the globe. With a steady hand and sharp eye, you will guide your crew and vessel through some of the most dynamic marine projects in the world.

THE POSITION

As Chief Officer at Van Oord, you will work for a family-owned business that prioritizes people and safety. You will be working on international projects with a 5-weeks-on and 5-weeks-off sailing schedule. The offshore fleet consists of subsea rock installation vessels, cable-laying vessels, and wind-installation jack-up vessels. In this role, you will independently lead offshore projects and collaborate with project management, client representatives, and your team.

YOUR IMPACT

As Chief Officer, you will take on several key responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of the vessel and successful project completion. Your main tasks will include:

  • Leading navigation duties and ensuring all nautical operations are carried out safely and responsibly.
  • Maintaining onboard environmental regulations and overseeing safety equipment compliance, such as ISM & ISPS standards.
  • Consulting daily with the Captain, project management, and client representatives to optimize production processes.
  • Training and coaching 2nd and 3rd Mates, as well as trainees on board, in a motivating way.
  • Handling the ship's administration according to Van Oord's standards.

This role is crucial in ensuring high safety standards and efficient project execution.

You are a capable and experienced leader with strong technical and interpersonal skills. You are used to working independently and thrive in an international environment. Key skills and qualifications include:

  • Completed education and training as a Maritime Officer.
  • Extensive practical experience as an officer of the watch and several years as a Chief Officer.
  • In possession of a DP Unlimited license.
  • STCW courses completed and readiness to complete all recommended Van Oord training.
  • Proficiency in the English language at a professional level.
