Business Controller SRI

In Gorinchem, you will help shape the future of offshore energy. As Business Controller SRI, you become the financial conscience and strategic business partner of our Subsea Rock Installation business. You turn complex financial data into clear insights that support important decisions. You work closely with Commercial, Tender and Operations teams. You lead a small finance team and help SRI grow internationally. Your insights will make a real difference to the projects and investments that drive the energy transition.

THE POSITION

As Business Controller SRI, you are the financial conscience and strategic business partner for the Subsea Rock Installation Management Team within Offshore Energy. SRI is entering an ambitious growth phase and expanding geographically. Van Oord is investing in the future of SRI with two new dedicated SRI vessels. You are responsible for the financial oversight of the SRI product line, including P&L performance and vessel and equipment exploitation. You lead a finance team of approximately 3 FTE and work closely with assigned Project Controllers. You support and challenge the business at both operational and strategic level and ensure that sound financial insights support commercial, tendering and operational decisions. In this role, you connect Finance & Control with the wider SRI business and help the organisation grow in a controlled and sustainable way.

YOUR IMPACT

You help the SRI Management Team understand what the numbers mean and how they can support the business. You provide financial insight throughout the project lifecycle, from tendering and financial modelling to execution and performance management. You work closely with Project Managers, Commercial, Tender and Operations teams and act as a trusted financial partner. At the same time, you safeguard financial control, compliance and risk management in a complex international project environment. You also help make Finance & Control more data driven by improving data quality, reporting, digitalisation and processes. Your main responsibilities include:

• Advise the SRI Management Team on financial performance, budgets, risks and opportunities and act as a sparring partner for the Management Team Finance & Control Offshore Energy

• Provide financial input during tender phases, including tax, financial modelling and joint venture structures and support the transition from tender to execution

• Act as financial partner for Project Managers and project teams and support and guide international Project Controllers

• Lead the quarterly consolidation of SRI figures, support compliance for international entities and maintain strong financial controls in a complex international project environment

• Support annual planning and quarterly forecasting, monitor liquidity, cash flow and financial risks and drive financial analyses, process improvements, data quality, reporting and digitalisation


YOUR WORKPLACE

You will work within the Finance & Control team of Offshore Energy in Gorinchem. You become part of a team of approximately 3 FTE and work closely with the SRI Management Team and assigned Project Controllers. Your role connects finance with the commercial and operational side of the business. 

ABOUT YOU

You are a proactive professional who enjoys taking ownership and responsibility within a business unit. You combine strong analytical skills with clear communication and know how to turn financial information into useful business insights. You enjoy working with different disciplines and feel comfortable in a dynamic, project driven environment. You have the leadership skills or ambition to lead a small team and you are interested in data, digitalisation and process improvement. You can communicate confidently in English and are willing to travel occasionally. You bring the following experience and skills:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Economics, Business Administration or a similar field

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in complex project environments and preferably an affinity with the maritime, offshore or civil construction sector

• Knowledge of financial and contractual documentation and a strong understanding of how finance supports commercial and operational decisions

• Experience in leadership or the ambition to lead and develop a small finance team

• Strong analytical and communication skills, with an affinity for data, digitalisation and process improvement
