3rd Officer Offshore

At Van Oord, you won't just be sailing from A to B. You'll work on board state-of-the-art offshore vessels operating projects around the world. As a 3rd Officer, you will play an important role in maintaining safe vessel operations while building the sea time, experience and competence needed to develop towards future ranks.

THE POSITION

As a 3rd Officer, you are at the start of your career at sea. You support the safe navigation operational performance of the vessel during your watch. You act as a member of the crew helping to ensure that navigational, safety and operational activities are carried out in line with rules and regulations and Van Oord's high safety standards. Working closely with your team, you will gain valuable experience on internationally operating vessels while further developing your professional and leadership skills.

YOUR IMPACT

As a 3rd Officer, you contribute to safe and efficient operations by supporting the team. Through active participation in daily operations, you help maintain rules, regulations, and operations. Your responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with navigational watchkeeping duties and bridge administration;
  • Supporting routine offshore and deck operations in accordance with established procedures;
  • Maintaining, inspecting and testing safety and lifesaving equipment;
  • Maintaining operational, safety and statutory records;
  • Participating in emergency response drills and promoting a safe onboard working environment.

  • A valid Officer of the Watch Certificate of Competency (Unlimited);
  • Valid STCW certification and seagoing documentation;
  • A valid seafarers medical certificate;
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken;
  • A proactive and safety-conscious mindset.
