2nd Officer Offshore Installation Vessels

THE POSITION

As 2nd Officer you play a key role on the bridge team of our offshore vessels. You ensure safe navigation and support the execution of complex offshore operations. From transport to installation, your work contributes directly to successful projects at sea. We are looking for team players who stay sharp under pressure and enjoy working in a technical, international environment.


YOUR IMPACT

As a 2nd Officer, you play a crucial role in the operational processes on board and contribute to the vessel's productivity. Your responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Chief Officer with all navigational duties and acting as Safety Officer to ensure safe and environmentally responsible operations.
  • Optimizing the production and continuity of the vessel’s operations.
  • Ensuring that all environmental regulations and safety equipment are maintained to Van Oord’s high standards.
  • Consulting daily with the Master and Chief Officer to improve production methods.
  • Training and coaching 3rd Officers and trainees to transfer knowledge effectively.
  • Maintaining the ship's administration in line with Van Oord standards.

You are a stress-resistant, flexible, and agile team player who thrives in a dynamic environment. You have a hands-on mentality and great communication skills. In addition, you possess the following qualifications:

  • Maritime education at an intermediate or higher level, or practical experience as an officer of the navigational watch.
  • DPO certificates that enable you to be immediately deployable.
  • Familiarity with STCW courses and willingness to complete all Van Oord required training.
  • Fluency in English at a professional level, as our operations take place worldwide.
