'In 1997, I completed the Dredging School and started working at Van Oord on the HAM 602, a rock dumping vessel. Since then, I have worked on more than 12 different hoppers and have risen from deckhand to first officer.
And I'm not stopping there: at Van Oord, you get every opportunity and chance to pursue education and training to develop yourself. Soon, I will start the Leadership Development Program. You really never stand still here.'

A ship doesn't stay in harbor, of course. When André was young, he wanted to see the world, and he succeeded: 'I have worked from Australia to Brazil. For example, also on projects like the Second Maasvlakte and the Palm Islands. Being able to point out on Google Maps what I've contributed to is truly unique.'
