Tender Manager Dredging

Do you want to broaden your expertise to international port and fairway maintenance dredging and beach nourishment projects around the world? Are you ready to bring the best proposals to the market together with your tender team? Would you like to work as a Tender Manager on projects that are vital for international shipping and coastal resilience? Then this is the perfect job for you!

THE POSITION

At Van Oord, as a Tender Manager, you are an inspiring leader who makes a difference. You take charge of the tender process for dredging projects world-wide deploying Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers and Water Injection Dredgers. You are responsible for developing and executing a winning tender strategy, which you turn into a technically feasible proposal that adds value for the client. Projects vary from short term ad-hoc projects with a fast-paced tender turnaround to long term maintenance schemes requiring equipment deployment strategy, financial models, siltation assessment and monitoring schemes.

With your tender team, you identify and analyse the client's interests and requirements, potential risks, and opportunities. This enables you to recognize the critical elements needed to create the most attractive proposal. Besides leading the team, you are responsible for the overall quality of the tender process and submission. You lead, monitor, develop, and manage tender processes, activities, and resources in line with the tender schedule and standards.

YOUR IMPACT

Ports and fairways, beach nourishments and river systems- as a Tender Manager in the product line Maintenance, you work across a broad range of leading projects. We are at the forefront of our sector in terms of executing energy efficient dredging operations with modern equipment using alternative fuels. We invest in the future. The contract types we primarily work vary from remeasurable (paid per m3) to performance contracts and long term waterway concession contracts, with project scopes ranging from 10 to over 100 million.

Collaboration is central to our work; you will be part of a group of multiple Tender Managers and Tender Engineers, working in tender teams alongside colleagues from various specializations. Composition of the core tender team is set, and may be expended depending on project’s complexity. The atmosphere is open and transparent: we engage easily in discussions, and there is a strong willingness to support each other. New colleagues receive ample support, and we offer an open, transparent work environment. We have short reporting lines and communication and you will have direct contact with other departments within the organization. You will work at our head office in Rotterdam.

ABOUT YOU

You are a client- and collaboration-focused Tender Manager. You bring extensive knowledge of dredging, tendering and contracting. Aside from technical interest you are able picture how operations are performed and your commercial insight is well developed. You have a results-oriented mindset and a winning mentality. Additionally, you bring:

  • a completed bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field;
  • at least 5 years of experience with tenders, design, preparation, and execution of dredging projects;
  • experience in a similar role and/or as a project manager on dredging or marine construction projects, possibly from a consultancy or contractor background;
  • Excellent command of English (given the international setting of Van Oord projects and offices).

WE OFFER

This is your opportunity to make a visible contribution to projects that support the energy transition while developing your career in an international environment. What do we offer you:

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience.
  • Attractive travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home working allowance (€2.45 per day).
  • 32 holidays, of which a maximum of 7 are collective.
  • Variable bonus, partly dependent on company results.
  • Attractive pension scheme.
  • Option for collective health insurance (Van Oord pays for your supplementary package).
  • Extensive development opportunities, including a comprehensive online academy via GoodHabitz.
  • Communities to join, such as Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women and the Van Oord staff association.
  • Various events and sports activities, such as skiing, sailing weekends, cycling and motorcycling.
