Project Engineer Werkvoorbereiding

As a Project Engineer you play an integral part in ensuring optimal preparation, planning, and execution of projects, focusing on technical solutions and documentation in line with project requirements and client specifications.

Your Impact

Daily Coordination: You prepare relevant technical documentation like method statements. You analyse client needs, specifications, and requirements and ensure these are translated into technical solutions, work methods, processes, required materials and equipment. 

You support Tender, Engineering, and/or Project Managers in delivery of high-quality documentation and reporting. You maintain close collaboration with subcontractors and suppliers. Ensuring proper technical alignment conform the uniform way of working within Van Oord and in alignment within the project scope.

Process Optimization and Improvement: Analysing and documenting project best practices and lessons learned, proposing process improvements to enhance coordination and efficiency across teams.

Tender and Project Documentation: Preparing relevant technical documentation, translating client needs and specifications into work methods, processes, materials, and equipment requirements.

Risk Assessment and Safety Awareness: Identifying and assessing risks and developing risk management strategies in accordance with health and safety regulations.

Procurement and Tender Advice: Providing strategic advice on procurement and tendering strategies, contributing to project planning, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Your workplace

In the role of Project Engineer you oversee various parts of the tendering process or project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with Van Oord’s project standards and technical processes. You act as linking pin between the different engineering disciplines, operations, other departments and align with the Tender, Engineering, or Project Manager. You signal (dis)connections between teams and suggest ways to make the various processes more efficient. You identify potential risks, propose mitigating actions, and escalate these to Tender, Engineering, or Project Manager. You follow and collect best practices and lessons learned on procedures and ways of working in projects.

Responsible for identifying risks and recommending useful actions. You also scan for new market opportunities and continuously improve internal processes within Van Oord.

 

Your work environment

You will be part of Van Oord’s Project Engineering team and working closely with 42 passionate colleagues dedicated to completing projects successfully. Collaboration is essential, because your role requires alignment with other departments, engineering specialists and external stakeholders.

 

About you

  •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level in a relevant field.
  •  Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil engineering, road construction,  dredging works or maritime engineering.
  •  Technical- and commercial skills in project preparation and budgeting.
  •  Strong interpersonal- and communication skills, adept at stakeholder management.
  •  Proficient in Dutch and English,
  •  Travelling to various (project) sites of Van Oord will not be an issue for you.
