Diversity of projects

The position

We are looking for a new colleague for our subsea rock installation projects. These projects are executed in waters varying between 20 and 1500 meters water depth with high precision and efficiency. Are you up for this challenge? Then apply for this vacancy!

As a Project Engineer Subsea Rock Installation you are the link between the design phase and the execution of the project. You will review design criteria and construction drawings from the customer to assess and comprehend the scope of work. You will also prepare and implement working methods and project plans for client approval. Furthermore, you come up with creative solutions to technical problems that occur during project execution. In this position you will work under the supervision of a Project Manager or Works Manager.

Your responsibilities

  • Prepare the technical project documentation (including risk assessments) according to the project, in compliance with the customer requirements;
  • Review project estimates for subsea rock operations and material quantities;
  • When the entire scope is prepared and assessed you will take care of a thorough handover to the offshore vessel crew;
  • Follow the day to day operations during the execution of the works and provide help in case of technical problems;
  • Checking document control registers in order to be sure that work instructions, working methods and drawings have been issued.
  • Perform evaluations and analyses on the performance of the execution in caparison between estimated and actual status;
  • Communicate with different clients on a regular basis to keep them informed;
  • Prepare and deliver final installation reports according to client requirements with precise project information;
  • Review and deliver technical as-built data to customer. If required prepare a final cost status of the project.

Job requirements

In the role of Project Engineer you require excellent communication skills. We are looking for someone who is result oriented and who dares to take decisions independently. It is important that you are able to work in project teams and that you are not afraid to ask for feedback when applicable.

Other requirements:

  • A MBO (post-secondary vocational education), Bachelor or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or civil engineering, preferably in Offshore Engineering or Maritime Infrastructure;
  • Two years' relevant work experience, preferably in the offshore industry;
  • Proficiency in English is required for both written and spoken, Dutch is an advantage;
  • You are an analytical thinker, driven by curiosity to get to the bottom of things and solve a problem or to find an answer;
  • Being able to travel on regular basis to vessels, project locations and clients locations (in- and outside NL);
  • Preferably living in the Netherlands (given the office in the Netherlands).

We offer

We offer you a position where you will make a significant contribution to our mission 'building a better world for future generations'. In addition, we offer you:

  • Salary that matches your responsibilities and experience;
  • Travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home office allowance (€2 per day);
  • 32 leave days per year;
  • Variable bonus;
  • Pension scheme;
  • Optional collective health insurance (Van Oord will pay the additional package);
  • Flexible working from home policy, 2 days a week when working on a full-time basis;
  • Personal development is important to us, therefor we offer extensive learning and (personal) development possibilities, including a wide range of online courses via Goodhabitz;
  • Communities, like Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women and the Van Oord staff association;
  • We organise several (sport) events, e.g. winter sport, weekend of sailing, cycling and a motorcycle tour.
