In this role, you are part of the Projects team within the Business Unit Offshore Energy of Van Oord and report directly to the SRI business controller. The product group SRI is on a path of ambitious growth to enable the energy infrastructure of today and tomorrow and is expanding rapidly across different regions. Van Oord specialises in projects that require innovative and sustainable solutions based on our marine ingenuity. As Project Controller SRI, you are the financial conscience and business partner of the business controller and project managers. Within the Business Unit Offshore Energy, you support operational decision making, ensure compliance and maintain effective controls in an international setting. You also play an important role in data management and digitalisation as SRI and Van Oord continue their journey towards becoming a data driven company.
You bring financial insight to SRI projects and help project teams make informed decisions. You work closely with project managers and stakeholders to understand financial performance, risks and opportunities. You take ownership of reporting and financial planning while also looking for better ways of working. Your role combines project control, business partnering, analysis and process improvement. You will contribute to the continued digitalisation and growth of SRI through the following responsibilities:
· Report debtor balances monthly and provide cashflow forecasts.
· Report the balance sheet and P&L for several SRI projects and local entities on a quarterly and annual basis, including financial planning, budgeting and forecasting.
· Act as a financial sparring partner for project managers and project teams and advise stakeholders on financial performance, risks and opportunities.
· Coordinate business support activities and work with local accountants to ensure compliance and the filing of annual accounts for foreign entities.
· Perform ad-hoc analyses and reviews, identify improvement opportunities and contribute to digitalisation, better data quality and improved business processes.\
YOUR WORKPLACE
You work in the OFE Finance & Control team in Gorinchem, which consists of around 10 people. You report to a senior business controller who is financially responsible for a product group within the Business Unit Offshore Energy. The team leads regional finance managers and international project controllers. Together, you play an important role in the planning and reporting cycle within the business unit. You support the budgeting and forecasting process and work closely with colleagues across an international organisation. Your work connects financial insight with the projects that help shape the energy infrastructure of the future.
You are proactive and comfortable taking ownership of your work. You communicate clearly, analyse information carefully and work effectively with others. You enjoy finding opportunities to create value and improve the way things are done. You have an affinity with data, digital tools and process improvement and you are motivated to grow your own expertise. You bring the following experience and skills:
· A bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance and at least 5 years of relevant experience in an international business environment.
· Experience in project control, accounting and reporting standards and processes, preferably in a complex project oriented environment.
· Strong analytical and communication skills, with experience in providing financial decision support.
· An affinity with data, BI tools, automation and process improvement, combined with a pragmatic approach and a drive to improve.
· Excellent spoken and written English and an affinity with the maritime and/or civil construction industry.
