Project Accountant

THE POSITION

 The Project Accountant is responsible for ensuring efficient project accounting operations, accurate financial reporting, and compliance with accounting policies and guidelines. Their role focuses on cost transparency, cost awareness, and cost control. You will manage the accounting for a wide array of small and medium sized projects The Project Accountant is part of the Area Netherlands organisation.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Set up project structures in accounting systems per group policies.
  • Conduct project cost analysis, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Prepare periodic project financial reports 
  • General Overhead accounting
  • Tracking the deployment of equipment and materials
  • Monitor accruals and ensure accurate system postings.
  • Support PO creation, invoicing and tracking vendor payments 
  • Ensure compliance with Percentage-of-Completion (PoC) accounting.
  • Prepare working capital and cash flow reports.
  • Support financial closing, audits, and internal/external reviews.
  • Ensure timely and efficient period-end closing.
  • Assist in statutory account reporting.
  • Participate in training and coaching activities.
  • Engage with key stakeholders (BU Management, Project Managers, Controllers)


ABOUT YOU

You work accurately, flexibly and enjoy tackle issues and solving problems when they arise. You see the importance of qualitative data for decision-making, and do not shy away from a good discussion. You also like to work together with others, can deliver the right quality that meets the needs of the team and you like to work on process improvements.

Furthermore, you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Economics or Accounting, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 years in senior accounting roles, preferably within a project environments.
  • Ability to work with flexible guidelines and deadlines.
  • Experience working with a shared service center setup is an advantage
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills (customers, partners and internal management)
