Internship QHSE Marine

Do you want to contribute to the safety of our fleet while gaining hands-on experience in the maritime world? As an intern you will work on the operation protocols for Van Oord’s fleet, making sure our vessels can navigate through international waters with confidence.

THE POSITION

Every day our vessels operate in complex regions across the world. Safety and security are critical. As an intern in our team you will help design and document clear processes for the department and the fleet, defining the steps required and how they should be applied. You will join our QHSE Marine team and work closely with your Team Lead as your sparring partner.

YOUR IMPACT

You will work as a valued member of our team of six colleagues, ranging in age and experience, from young professionals to senior experts. Together you will:

  • Assist in developing audit procedures and plans.
  • Reviewing and documenting the existing processes to ensure they are clearly defined, consistently followed, and easily accessible for future reference.
  • Translate findings into practical procedures and written reports.
  • Ensure results are embedded into our operations and shared across the fleet.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues within your team.

YOUR WORKPLACE

You will be based in the Netherlands, when the opportunity arise, you can join one of the team members during a vessel visit and interacting directly with colleagues onboard. At the office in Rotterdam you will join a small, international and highly collaborative team of six professionals. Expect lots of teamwork, sparring and direct interaction. You will be treated as a full team member from day one and supported by an experienced Manager.

ABOUT YOU

You are a fourth-year Bachelor student in Technical Business Administration, Business Administration, Safety & Security Management or a related field. You are available for at least 4 months, 5 days a week (minimum 3 days). In addition you bring:
 • Analytical skills and a proactive mindset
 • Resilience and flexibility to handle dynamic situations
 • A collaborative spirit and strong communication skills
 • Curiosity and drive to learn in a real-world environment
