As an HR Services Officer, you play a key role in delivering reliable, accurate and people-focused HR services throughout the employee lifecycle. You are the point of contact for HR-related questions from employees, managers and the HR community in line with HR policies, procedures and guidelines.
You handle both routine and more complex HR queries. You work independently on standard HR activities and transactions, seek support when needed for sensitive or complex cases, provide clear advice by interpreting policies and processes within your area of expertise and relevant geographies. You deliver timely, high-quality support with a personal touch, researching the broader context behind requests and proactively identifying improvement opportunities.
Compliance is central to your role. You ensure HR lifecycle transactions meet local laws, regulations and Van Oord policies. You maintain accurate personnel administration by collecting, updating and managing employee data in Workday (our HRIS system), as well as related files and archives. You stay up to date on relevant legislation and HR developments and actively contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing HR processes, template and procedures.
As an HR Services Officer, you will deliver comprehensive operational HR support across the full employee lifecycle. Drawing on your strong knowledge and practical application of employment law, you will play a key role in supporting the organisation in the delivery of a broad range of HR activities and employment practices. As a member of the HR operations team, you will also contribute to both local and international HR projects, working collaboratively with the HR Business Partner, managers, Centres of Expertise, and other internal stakeholders.
The HR Services Officer will take a proactive, hands-on approach and be capable of working independently to manage demanding operational responsibilities and multiple projects with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The role requires an intuitive and naturally curious individual who is confident in challenging ideas, skilled at investigating and sourcing information, and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders at an international level.
Essential requirements include extensive HR experience across the full employment cycle, supporting a company in delivering HR activities and applying employment law in areas such as recruitment and selection, absence management, discipline and grievance, learning and development, succession planning and talent management, equality and inclusion, health and wellbeing, and employee exit processes. The candidate should be able to independently handle routine HR tasks while also resolving complex HR queries, and demonstrate a strong understanding of HR matters in line with best practice and employment law.
A Level 5 HR qualification or equivalent is required, and membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) would be an advantage. The role also requires a commitment to continuous learning in employment law, HR best practices, and personal development. The candidate should be willing to travel occasionally on an international basis, primarily to offices in the Netherlands.
Experience working with HR information systems is important, with familiarity with Workday considered an advantage. Additionally, experience in an international matrix organization would be beneficial.
You will be joining an international, fast-paced, and highly dynamic organisation, offering a genuine opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our business, our people, and the environment. In return, we provide a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including hybrid working, an annual salary review, company bonus, enhanced holiday entitlement, and the option to buy or sell additional leave. Our offering also includes a pension scheme, life assurance and insurance cover, health and wellbeing initiatives, and a wide range of learning and development opportunities. Employees benefit from subsidised travel, salary sacrifice schemes, long service and recognition programmes, and a strong commitment to work-life balance, alongside on-site perks such as free parking, fresh fruit and refreshments, and regular company events.
