Within our Offshore Energy business unit, Subsea Rock Installation protects and stabilises offshore infrastructure such as wind farms, subsea cables and pipelines. Your work supports projects that must perform in the most demanding environments.
As a Cost Engineer, you translate client wishes into a solid and realistic cost picture for Van Oord. You take ownership of the estimating process and bring together input from engineering, operations and commercial teams. In this role, you work closely with a wide group of stakeholders while staying connected to a small and tight knit team.
You bring clarity to complexity. You make sure every estimate reflects both the technical reality and the commercial ambition.
• You lead the cost estimation process and build integrated budgets for tenders
• You translate client requirements into clear and competitive cost structures
• You align with engineering, operations and commercial stakeholders to create accurate estimates
• You assess risks and opportunities and use them to strengthen our position
• You support project execution with calculations and insights when needed
YOUR WORKPLACE
You will join a small and close team of four colleagues in Gorinchem. The lines are short and communication is direct. You work together with around sixteen stakeholders across commercial and operational disciplines.
The work is dynamic and varied. One day you focus on detailed calculations, the next you align with teams across the business to shape a new opportunity. You operate in a niche market where your contribution is visible and valued. Within our family company, you get the trust and space to take ownership and grow.
You enjoy working with numbers and understand how to turn data into clear insights. You are proactive, analytical and able to switch quickly between tasks and stakeholders.
• A Bachelor degree in a technical field such as Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• Or a motivated MBO graduate with strong analytical skills and ambition
• Affinity with cost calculation and Excel
• Strong analytical mindset and a structured way of working
• Good command of English, Dutch is a plus
In this role, you will work on global offshore projects in a niche market where your contribution is visible from day one.
• A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience
• Attractive travel allowance and home working allowance
• 32 holidays (of which a maximum of 7 are collective)
• Variable bonus, partly dependent on company results
• Attractive pension scheme
• Option for collective health insurance (Van Oord pays for your supplementary package)
• Extensive development opportunities, including a comprehensive online academy via Goodhabitz
• Communities to join, such as Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women, and the Van Oord staff association
• Various events and sports activities, such as skiing, sailing weekends, cycling, and motorcycling
