Category Manager IT

The position

In this role your focus will be on all IT related developments and projects within Van Oord.

As category manager IT you will work together with internal stakeholders in all staff departments (IT, HR, Finance, SMD, E&E etc.) and bring distinctive value in optimizing selecting and implementing new solutions. Your focus will be on all IT related developments and projects within Van Oord. 

In this position you  will be part of the central procurement organization and work in a team of  28 Category Managers responsible for 14 categories. In your role you will develop exposure, market intelligence, initiatives and innovations. You position yourself as a trusted advisor on the IT category. As a team we have the mentality to be pro-active and stay ahead of the game. Our aim is to be significantly more effective than traditional transactional based purchasing negotiations. This translates in more value for Van Oord and at the same time reduces the costs  and  risks in the supply chain, and give us  access to more innovation from suppliers.

  • IT Hardware / Infrastructure/ IT services, selection, negotiation;
  • Vendor management strategic IT suppliers;
  • Stakeholder management on IT related topics.

Your impact 

You act as a "linking pin" between key stakeholders and supplier. In doing so, you manage and optimize the use of contracts. You also make recommendations to minimize risks. Further:

  • You identify, develop, align, implement and communicate a category plan for the IT category;
  • Supplier selection and contraction through a well organized RFP process;
  • Ensure that signed contracts are communicated to all relevant parties to provide contract visibility and awareness, interpretation to support implementation;
  • Serve as the point of escalation for internal customers on contractual matters;
  • Support the team by sharing knowledge in order to reach our department goals.

About you

  • You have a BSc degree, preferably in business administration; 
  • 5 years relevant working experience in category management; 
  • A good knowledge of different types of contracts and experience in procurement of hardware, software & IT services;
  • A good knowledge of different types of contracts and experience in procurement of hardware, software & IT services;
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational sensitivity;
  • Good command of English and/or Dutch, speaking and writing;
  • Take the lead and feel comfortable in commercial negotiations.
