With a background in civil engineering and management, I worked on all kinds of construction projects – from roads and sewage systems to soil remediation. I was involved in tenders, safety, ISO certification, and internal audits. But over time, I found myself spending more and more time behind my desk. I realised I missed being out on site.
I wanted to get closer to the practical side of the work again, and that’s when Van Oord came along. The scale of the projects immediately appealed to me, as well as the international character of the company. It felt like a fresh start, with just the right balance between office and fieldwork.

Growing with trust
I started as an HSE Manager with a small team of three colleagues. Now, we’re a team of six, working on six different projects. The work is incredibly varied, and I’m still learning every day. I regularly follow training courses through the Van Oord Academy and GoodHabitz, and I keep my certifications up to date according to Romanian regulations. One of my goals for 2024 was to achieve the highest HSE certification level in Romania – and I did it.
What I really appreciate is that you’re given the opportunity here to develop yourself. You’re encouraged to grow, take on new challenges, and assume more responsibility. I want to keep adding value and share the knowledge I gain with others.
