THE POSITION

During your time on board, you will have ample opportunity to grow and develop yourself as a full-fledged member of the crew. Responsibility and independence are expected from you, while guidance from an experienced mentor will also be provided. You will learn to work within a large team comprising employees from various nationalities and educational backgrounds. It's an unforgettable international experience where you'll work on diverse leading projects aboard one of our ships.


Van Oord is a Dutch maritime contractor with extensive international experience in dredging, offshore operations, and offshore wind projects. We have a proud tradition of combining our engineering expertise to build offshore wind farms, prepare seabeds and ocean floors, and create new land for a wide range of commercial and public projects. During your internship on board, you will contribute to Van Oord's expertise, and your proactive approach and initiative will be key to the success of your internship.

 

ABOUT YOU

Interning at Van Oord means applying the theoretical knowledge you've gained during your maritime education in a dynamic onboard environment. You'll have the freedom to shape your own direction during the internship and develop yourself into roles such as an all-round dredging specialist, on-deck personnel, or in the engine room.

  • You are studying at one of the maritime schools;
  • You are willing to be away from home for a period of 150 days;
  • You are flexible, responsible, and resilient to stress;
  • Available during the period from September till Winter;
  • Good command of the English and Dutch languages.

A different period can be discussed; please indicate your availability during your application.

 

WE OFFER YOU

We offer you an internship where you can develop your skills and gain hands-on experience working on our vessels around the world. Additionally, we provide you with:

  • A internship allowance of 425.- euro;
  • Travel and accommodation arranged and covered by Van Oord;
  • Flexibility to complete your school assignments;
  • Solid guidance on board from your mentor.
