To support our daily work on vessels and (project) offices, you as a Technical Application Engineer are responsible for keeping our business-critical systems up-and-running.
Together with your colleague engineers you manage various applications. You work closely with business teams and/or functional management and you are the first point of contact for providing technical support on the systems you control. You will also be involved in developing, testing, and deploying new applications and features, as well as troubleshooting and resolving any issues that may arise.
As a Technical Application Engineer you are responsible for providing technical advice and support so that systems and services are used effectively and efficiently by internal customers and end users. Your knowledge and experience is essential for keeping our business-critical applications up-and-running and secure, which is why you are involved in:
Maintain and control
• Performing management tasks for one or more of our systems to ensure the best possible uptime and user experience;
• Proactively ensure the optimal performance and availability of multiple business critical applications;
• Incident handling and problem diagnosis: dealing with disruptions, analysing and solving problems and preparing and implementing changes in the application landscape;
• Timely remediation of technical vulnerabilities in business applications and/or implementing mitigating measures;
• Registration, recording and follow-up of tasks and activities in the ITSM/ ServiceNow platform.
Contact and advice
• You are the source of information for the IT Service Desk and provide 3rd line support;
• Advising, solving and proposing improvement actions both technically and process-wise;
• Maintaining contact and providing support to functional owners and end users at our locations, worldwide;
• Maintaining contact with suppliers.
Requirements and design
• Ensuring that applications comply with the guidelines and requirements from IT Security and (external) Audits;
• Identifying and recording technical application requirements and criteria;
• Technical Designs/ documenting of application environments and process flows.
Delivery
• Delivery of new or adapted technical solutions, in accordance with design and requirements;
• Participate in projects: advice, updates, installations, technical configurations;
• Monitoring and improving processes, working methods and documentation.

• Bachelor or Master degree or work level experience;
• Minimum 3-5 years proven experience in a similar role / experience working within larger, complex environments;
• Understanding of Windows OS, web hosting, databases (MS SQL, Oracle), Citrix, networking and security solutions such as firewalls and encryption technologies;
• Knowledge and experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) and Cloud computing technologies is an advantage
• Experience in documenting instructions, workflows (Visio), standard operating procedures (SOPs), manuals etc.;
• Critical thinker, proactive, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, but driving for a practical outcome;
• Strong English written and verbal communication skills. Dutch is preferred but is not mandatory.
