THE POSITION

At Van Oord, "Digital" is recognised as a fundamental strategic pillar, alongside "The Right People" and "Sustainability." As the Tech Lead for the Data and AI Platform within our Data and Analytics team, you will play a key role in advancing our mission of "Building the future together" through the delivery of data-driven marine solutions. In this capacity, you will collaborate with business stakeholders, provide guidance and mentorship to a team of Data and AI engineers, and advocate for the adoption of self-service data solutions across the organisation. Serving as the technical advisor to the teamlead, you will work closely with the Data Architect, the Data Products and Data Governance teams to ensure that all technological solutions are aligned with organisational needs.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Develop and implement the platform roadmap in partnership with global stakeholders
  • Transform company strategy into a clear and inspiring platform vision with focused features and capabilities
  • Advocate for a product-driven, self-service platform approach
  • Drive organization-wide adoption of the data and AI platform, making analytics accessible to all
  • Build new business relationships and deepen existing collaborations
  • Lead the technical evolution of our big data and AI architecture, both on Vessels as well as in the Cloud.

ABOUT YOU

You are proactive, a teamplayer, analytical, with a genuine passion for IT and technological innovation. You contribute ideas, offer support, and aren’t afraid to voice your perspective when needed.


We are looking for someone who possesses:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in data platform roles tech lead responsibilities
  • Outstanding communication skills to bridge technical expertise and business needs
  • Deep knowledge of effectively using big data architectures and platforms such as Azure Synapse, Azure ML, and Databricks
  • Experience with Terraform for infrastructure management and automation.
  • Proficiency with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools to automate workflows and deployments.
  • A proven track record in agile work environments
  • Hands-on experience driving and promoting self-service analytics capabilities
