To support our daily work on vessels, offices and project locations, you as a System Engineer ensure the highest level of systems- and infrastructure availability. You work closely with your colleagues from different departments and you are the first point of contact for providing support on our (virtualized) server environment and back-up systems.
Your knowledge and experience is essential for keeping our IT landscape up-and-running and secure. You are responsible for providing technical advice and support so that IT systems and services can be used effectively and efficiently by internal customers and end users worldwide, which is why you:
• Install configure, test and maintain our (virtualized) Windows- and Linux server environment and system management tools;
• Maintain security and recommend changes to server configurations and operating systems’ settings as needed to ensure smooth operation;
• Install configure, test and maintain our Veeam and Azure back-up systems;
• Proactively maintain and update VMware-, Windows- and Ubuntu systems
• Maintain security, manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure;
• Provide local support at our global regional (project) locations if necessary.
YOUR WORKPLACE
This position is available within the Digital Technology department, operating in a highly international enterprise environment, with stakeholders across the globe. You will be working from our head office in Rotterdam with a beautiful view on the Maas. You can start or end your working day at our own gym in the office. There is an option for hybrid working (3 days at the office and 2 days at home based on a full-time employment contract). In addition to occasional travel, the position also includes a periodic 24-hour standby service.

• Bachelor or Master degree or work level experience;

• Windows Server: deep understanding of Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022, VMWare ESXi, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP;
• Azure: proficiency in Azure Virtual Machines;
• Cloud: solid understanding of cloud computing concepts (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS);
• Backup and Recovery: experience with Veeam Backup and Azure Backup;
• Knowledge of Linux, NetApp, Pure Storage and Ansible is a plus;
• Scripting: Expertise in PowerShell for automation and configuration management;
• Critical thinker, proactive, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, but driving for a practical outcome;
• Strong English written and verbal communication skills. Dutch is preferred but is not mandatory;
• Available to travel to our (project) locations worldwide as needed.
