THE POSITION

As a Python Developer Production Estimating within the Production Estimating Department, of different Business Units, you support internal clients to work with large quantities of data by facilitating access to standardized analyses and visualisations, resulting in key insights and KPIs. You identify and investigate opportunities for new insights by analysing data from our fleet and projects in execution to improve the data analysis tools which provide the basic input for new tender estimates. You will work in a hands-on environment where it is expected from you to engage with your internal clients during the development phase, provide active support during the implementation phase of our analytics tools, and you are willing to visit a project to get a better understanding of the business logic. 

 

YOUR IMPACT

In the role Python Developer Production Estimating you will support the development of analysis tools in the production estimating department with various tasks:

 

  • Design, develop, and test analytics software & standardized analysis templates using Python;
  • Deployment of new product versions in test and production environments (Kubernetes);
  • Work in a scrum team together with the other developers and product owner;
  • Help your fellow developers with any engineering or coding related questions or challenges they may face;
  • Assist in the embedding of the newly developed tools by explaining them to the end users and business stakeholders.

 

Your workplace

You will be part of our Analytics team, working alongside two developers and a product owner, collaboratively developing analytics solutions that unlock the full potential of our data sources i.e.  activity, AIS, geotechnical, metocean, and sensor data. We follow a hybrid working schedule that involves three days working collectively in the Rotterdam office where we enjoy having lunch together and often engage in games for some fun and team bonding. You will be part of a diverse and international orientated company with plenty of social activities like project visits, company drinks, and a skiing trip amongst others.

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications:

  • A master (or bachelor) degree in econometrics, computer science, offshore/hydraulic engineering or other relevant fields;
  • Demonstrable fluency in Python and acquainted with libraries such as Pandas & Plotly;
  • You know your way around software versioning (git), test suites, technical documentation, and continuous integration and deployment;
  • Experience with Docker & Kubernetes;
  • Excellent command of the English language, spoken and written (Dutch optional).

 

 

Personal skills:

  • Ability to create an understanding of the business process and translate this to new functionalities;
  • Developed analytical and problem solving skills;
  • You are passionate about data, to learn and master new data analysis techniques and data science methodologies;
  • You are eager to learn about new business (e.g. offshore, dredging, renewable energy, marine infrastructure) and analyse various types of equipment;
  • Objective, creative, flexible and a team player;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to empathize with the needs of your internal customer.
