Cable Installation Engineer

Then read about what Van Oord can offer you. The Subsea Engineering Department in Gorinchem, The Netherlands, is looking for an Installation Engineer specialised in cables and umbilicals.

THE POSITION

Within a team of about 20 engineers you will perform installation analyses to ensure the integrity of subsea assets like cables and umbilicals while optimizing the workability of our equipment. With the tender and project teams you will search for the preferred installation method. You will work in close cooperation with tender management, cost estimating and other engineering disciplines during tender stage and work as project team member during the execution phase.  


YOUR IMPACT

Optimizing the workability of the equipment for pipeline and cable installation, you will be:

  • Involved in the design and installation aspects of international projects from tender phase to execution;
  • Developing safe, efficient and innovative workability enhancing solutions for our cable lay vessels; 
  • In close cooperation with different (project) teams on operational aspects and work methods;
  • Contributing to the development of in-house calculation tools.


YOUR WORKPLACE

As cable installation engineer you will be working in a team of 20 engineers based in Gorinchem. It is a young team of engineers guided by seniors that have been involved in project preparation and execution. The work takes place both in the main office, project offices in the Netherlands, abroad and offshore.


ABOUT YOU

Interacting with different people within the company and changing your communication style accordingly gives you lots of energy. In addition, you have: 

  • MSc degree in Offshore, Maritime, Mechanical Engineering or similar;
  • Programming skills (preferably Python);
  • Affinity with specialized software such as OrcaFlex;
  • Willingness to travel abroad to follow up on the installation.
