Project Engineer Sustainabilty

Are you looking for a challenging and innovative position in which you are directly involved in the (new) construction and modification projects of our ships and project equipment for Dredging, Offshore and Offshore Wind? Read on.

YOUR IMPACT

As a Sustainability Engineer, you work with your expertise in sustainability on new construction and modification projects of our ships and equipment. You apply new techniques and look for sustainable solutions.

Within the (project) team you are responsible for your own assignments in technically challenging and innovative projects with a clear focus on quality, costs and delivery time. With your experience you contribute to finding sustainable solutions for our fleet. This may relate to emissions, materials, etc. You are involved in the entire project, from design, engineering to construction, commissioning and delivery. You see your own ideas become reality!
Our new construction projects include the largest Offshore Wind Installation Jack-Up Vessel and the innovative Cable Lay Vessel. We also develop project-specific equipment. Examples of this are the development and construction of a Subsea Drilling Template, Pile-Upending tool for Offshore Wind projects and capacity upgrade of our Offshore Wind installation vessels.

As an engineer you work together with external parties such as engineering firms, suppliers and subcontractors. You also communicate with the various parties involved in the project. You guide the stakeholders and report on progress to your department and/or project managers. You will also:

  • Discuss the needs and possibilities of and with the internal customer;
  • Input of sustainable solutions within our projects;
  • Translating these customer needs into (the scope of) your project;
  • Guide and supervision during the construction and commissioning phase.

Your workplace
For our Technology department within the Ship Management Department, located in Rotterdam, we are looking for an engineer with an interest in sustainability. This department is responsible for developing, building and modifying our sustainable equipment for Dredging, Offshore and Offshore Wind.

ABOUT YOU

  • You have completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Offshore Technology, Marine Technology, or similar;
  • You have at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with comparable equipment;
  • You master the Dutch and English language, spoken and written.

WE OFFER YOU

We offer you a position in which you will have an important contribution to our mission 'building a better world for future generations'. In addition, we offer you:

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience;
  • Additional allowances for working on board / on project locations abroad;
  • Travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home office allowance (€2.15 per day);

  • Flexible working from home policy, 2 days a week when working on a full-time basis;
  • Extensive learning and (personal) development possibilities, including a wide range of online courses via Goodhabitz;
  • You can join communities, like Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women and the Van Oord staff association;
