THE POSITION

In this role, you are part of the Tenders & Projects team within the Business Unit Offshore Energy of van Oord and report directly to the SRI business controller. The product group SRI is on a path of ambitious growth to enable the energy infrastructure of today and tomorrow and is geographical expanding rapidly. Van Oord specialises in projects requiring innovative and sustainable solutions based on our Marine ingenuity.



As Project Controller SRI, you will be the financial conscience and business partner of the business controller, project managers and commercial managers. Within the Business Unit Offshore Energy, you are responsible for timely delivery of the P&L/balance of several SRI projects and local entities. Your responsibilities will include supporting operational decision-making, ensuring compliance and effective controls in an international setting. Additionally, you are invited to play a crucial role in data management and digitalization to enable the transformation of SRI and Van Oord towards a data driven company


YOUR IMPACT

You will have various responsibilities, such as:

  • Plan and coordinate (annual) financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for assigned SRI projects and local entities;
  • Act as financial sparring partner of the project managers and project teams;
  • Inform and advises stakeholders on the financial performance, potential risks and opportunities (e.g. financing, guarantees, cashflow, and taxes) of SRI projects;
  • Coordinate the tasks allocated to the business support team
  • Liaise with local accountants to ensure compliance and filing of annual accounts of foreign entities;
  • Perform solicited and unsolicited ad-hoc analyses and reviews and signal improvement possibilities;
  • Contribute to the next steps of digitalization and improved data quality within Van Oord;
  • Create, review and improve business processes (Van Oord Way of Working);


YOUR WORKPLACEYou are working in the OFE Finance & Control team in Gorinchem, consisting of ~ 10 people and you will report to a senior business controller, financially responsible for a product group within the BU OFE. The OFE Finance & Control team leads regional finance managers and (international) project controllers and plays an important role in the planning and reporting cycle within the business unit by supporting the budgeting and forecasting process.


ABOUT YOU

  • A self-starter, proactive and able to identify opportunities to create value and excited about running your own SRI projects and or SRI entitie(s) within the Business Unit Offshore Energy;
  • Strong communication, analytical skills and an effective team player;
  • Affinity with data, BI tools, automation and process improvement;
  • A bachelor / master degree in finance and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an international business environment;
  • Enthusiastic about management control, accounting and reporting standards and processes;
  • A high level of knowledge in providing decision support;
  • An excellent command of the English language, spoken and written;
  • A pragmatic, "can do and will do" approach and an urge to improve;
  • Affinity with the Maritime and/or Civil construction industry;
