As a Pool Manager, you support one of the business units Dredging & Infra in their operational project staffing needs and project requests. As the linking pin between Business Unit, Projects, and Pool staff you ensure that the different projects are optimally staffed with well trained and professional experts. This requires close alignment and collaboration with your fellow Pool Managers.
You are a secure home base for Project Office staff assigned to you and their first point of contact regarding their projects and career. In this role you are responsible for their recruitment, engagement, and professional development in their career journey. This means you coordinate and contribute to the performance management cycle, and it is your responsibility to develop a long-term vision on the (training) needs of the Pool assigned to you. To do so, you gather feedback from Project Management and Business Unit, you meet your team at project sites and follow internal and external developments in your field. You use this information to initiate training and development programs in alignment with HR, academy, Business Units and other Pool Managers and coach the professionals reporting to you.
You always have the best interest of Van Oord at heart, and this requires you to make objective decisions after considering and weighing potentially different interests. You have the overview of all available skills and competencies within the pool assigned to you team and the operations pool in general, that allow you to make optimal staffing decisions. Your knowledge of, and experience with, project dynamics and content allow you to provide solid recommendations. To be successful in this role you spend a significant amount of time talking to different stakeholders. You use data to develop the short- and long-term resource requirements in line with diversity and internationalisation. You base your advice and decision-making on this data and insights. Understanding, weighing, and considering the different interests are crucial to use this data optimally.
You have one of the central roles within the Project Office and through your infectious enthusiasm and genuine dedication, you inspire others to strive for excellence, ultimately driving Van Oord's mission forward with enthusiasm.
