Payroll Analyst

At Van Oord, people are the heart of our work. From offshore wind farms to dredging projects, every payslip represents the trust and energy of our colleagues across the world. As a Payroll Analyst, you make sure that everyone is rewarded on time and correctly, wherever they are. This is work that requires accuracy, but also gives you pride: your contribution directly supports the wellbeing of our people and the success of our global projects.

THE POSITION

You will be part of our Payroll team in Rotterdam, which ensures that all employees across countries and projects receive their salaries on time and in compliance with local laws. The complexity is high, with multiple countries, changing tax and social security rules, and both in-house and external payroll providers. That’s where you come in. You will bring structure, control and reliability, while also helping us innovate and improve our processes.

YOUR IMPACT

You will make a real difference by:

  • Running monthly payroll cycles independently, either in-house or with external providers
  • Preparing payroll inputs such as bonuses, travel costs, overtime and project allowances
  • Ensuring compliance with local legislation and internal control standards
  • Supporting audits and reconciliations between salary and general ledger
  • Acting as the link between HR, Finance and local authorities on payroll matters
  • Driving process improvement and standardisation initiatives

Your accuracy, ownership and international outlook will help us build a resilient payroll function that our people and projects can rely on.

YOUR WORKPLACE

You will join our Finance community in Rotterdam, where payroll is managed as part of a close-knit and motivated team. Together, we support colleagues in the Netherlands and around the world. You will work with HR, Finance, external providers and auditors, giving you a broad perspective on how payroll connects to the wider organisation. We combine professionalism with a human approach — we take our work seriously, but also care about each other.

ABOUT YOU

You bring knowledge, accuracy and an international mindset. With your experience, you ensure that payroll runs smoothly and with confidence. You also enjoy collaborating across functions and are eager to contribute to improvements. You have:

  • HBO-level education (e.g. HRM, SPD, Finance)
  • 2–4 years of payroll experience, ideally in an international or project-based environment
  • Knowledge of tax and social security rules in at least one country
  • Fluency in English and Dutch, other languages are a plus
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with global payroll platforms such as AFAS, Workday or PWC GPP

WE OFFER YOU

We offer you a role where you will make a significant contribution to our mission of 'building a better world for future generations'. Additionally, we offer you:

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience
  • Attractive travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home working allowance (€2.40 per day)
  • 32 holidays (of which a maximum of 7 are collective)
  • Variable bonus, partly dependent on company results
  • Attractive pension scheme
  • Option for collective health insurance (Van Oord pays for your supplementary package)
  • Extensive development opportunities, including a comprehensive online academy via Goodhabitz
  • Communities to join, such as Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women, and the Van Oord staff association
  • Various events and sports activities, such as skiing, sailing weekends, cycling, and motorcycling
