Marine Hire Officer

The Category Manager Marine hire drives the decision-making process on what support vessels are required and is responsible for contracting of same. Are you the experienced individual that sees the complete picture, has the right solution and wants to be an integral part of the project team?

THE POSITION

You will be responsible to provide detailed tender input concerning the cost and type of vessels to be hired, local requirements and customs regime for import & export of vessels. In case of Project Award you are  responsible for following up and securing the right equipment against the right conditions and price.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Map the vessel requirements, customs regime, available ports as well as client requirements during  all phases of a project
  • Negotiating and closing transport mobilization and demobilization contracts of Van Oord equipment  and securing time charter contracts in accordance with project and legal procedures and guidelines. 
  • Supporting projects by monitoring the agreed budget, timely identifying risks and deviations and  identifying opportunities to optimize the financial result;
  • Support Mobilisation of project cargo in collaboration with the Logistics engineer
  • Timely inform relevant stakeholders, draft reports and ensure availability of all relevant data and documents;
  • Ensure compliance with company’s guidelines policies and be aware of (local) legislation;
  • Advise the business during Tenders and Projects on best and alternative solutions by compiling bid comparisons and update the internal stakeholders on developments and market conditions and availability vessels for regional areas world wide;
  • Within the Marine hire team define and execute the Marine Hire strategy
  • Drafting and monitoring of chartering agreements (Bimco)

ABOUT YOU

  • A completed higher vocational (HBO) education in the disciplines of logistics or supply chain. Candidates with extensive experience with an intermediate vocational (MBO) degree can also apply 
  • Sufficient work experience in a nautical, offshore and/or chartering environment , preferably with an international project organization and knowledge of Bimco terms and transport documents & contracts 
  • Good command of written and spoken English 
  • Familiarity with logistics-related matters such as trade- and customs compliance, hazardous goods and Incoterms 
  • Familiarity with specific Clients vetting’s and knowledge of ETS is a pre 
  • Analytical, able to translate concept to practice and present this in a structured commercial manner 
  • A team player with a customer-focused attitude and organisational sensitivity with excellent communication and social skills
