Within our Finance and Control department resides the Global Financial Shared Service Center (GFSSC). The primary aim of our GFSSC is to provide efficient and consistent centralized accounting and payroll services to projects, Business Units, and staff departments within Van Oord. The GFSSC comprises 6 sub-teams, with the majority focusing on accounting and payroll tasks. These sub-teams operate in both Rotterdam and Dubai.
As our manager salary & wages, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and optimizing our international payroll practise. Our Payroll team is currently undergoing a transition, implementing PwC’s Global Payroll solution and integrating decentralized payrolls. Your expertise in the end-to-end payroll process, along with the experience to manage and work together with a service provider, will be crucial. A good understanding of the changes the team is undergoing, and the ability to coach the team, is important. You will also be involved in various other transition programs that Van Oord is navigating, assessing the impact on the payroll practise.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the seamless and timely execution of multiple payrolls across our international operations;
• Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to the payroll team, helping them navigate through changes and achieve professional growth;
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance payroll processes, achieving the highest standards of operational excellence;
• Collaborate closely with upstream and downstream teams to implement cross-functional payroll improvements;
• Play an active role in various strategic transition programs within Van Oord;
• Manage our relationship with.

You thrive in a team in transition and excel at executing seamless payroll runs. You are also adept at collaborating across various teams and initiating (cross-)departmental improvements. Additionally, you should have:
• A relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with at least 5 years of experience in an international project environment;
• A qualification in practical wage and salary administration, along with professional payroll services expertise;
• Preferably, a Lean Management Green Belt or a willingness to pursue this certification;
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written, with additional languages being an advantage.
