Diversity of projects

The position

FlexOord has been the Van Oord central hiring desk for over 4 years. We support in hiring and contracting flexible workers on board our vessels, projects, and offices. You will be the point of contact for departments within Van Oord, suppliers, and candidates. FlexOord aims to be a single point of contact and to offer a standardized and digitalized process for hiring and onboarding flexible employees. To support this process, we use a vendor management system.

In the coming years, Van Oord has a significant growth strategy. The Talent Acquisition department is therefore facing a substantial challenge.

Your workplace:

The Talent Acquisition department currently consists of 24 colleagues (permanent, interim, and campus). Together, we are responsible for the entire recruitment process of approximately 600 vacancies and around 1700 flexible employees annually. All within scarce, knowledge-intensive, international target groups. Currently, we are developing a new strategy for FlexOord and the corresponding roadmap for the coming years, all in close collaboration with HR, Procurement, and Legal.

Your responsibilities

As a Flex Staff Specialist, you are a full-fledged partner for the hiring managers in your portfolio, focusing on hiring marine crew. You are not only responsible for the operational aspects of finding the right candidate but also serve as a strategic and tactical advisor. You oversee the entire hiring process: initiating a request with the right information, evaluating offers received from our suppliers, scheduling and conducting interviews if necessary, and contracting specialists.

In addition to managing the operational hiring process, we are also undergoing significant development. Much of these improvement initiatives involve our supplier management and positioning our flex staff specialists at a more strategic level.

The regular work location is Rotterdam. You are willing to work at our office in Gorinchem if necessary. Hybrid working is, of course, also possible!

Job requirements

You are an enthusiastic and proactive colleague with excellent communication and social skills. You can build and manage internal relationships with stakeholders and external relationships with international suppliers. Additionally, you are expected to develop best practices for the organization, leading to continuous improvement of processes and teams.

Moreover, you have or are:

  • A bachelor's degree;
  • Preferably experience in mediating flex workers and/or working with seafaring personnel;
  • Preferably knowledge of laws and regulations related to external recruitment (e.g., DBA, ABU/NBBU, MLC);
  • Available for a minimum of 32 hours per week;
  • Proficient in both Dutch and English language, both spoken and written;
  • Good insight into working in a complex, multidisciplinary environment;
  • The right attitude to get things done.

We offer

Working in an international, high demanding and dynamic organisation, with the possibility to truly have impact on our business, people and environment. We offer a complete package with excellent secondary employment benefits. The package includes among other things:a salary that matches your responsibilities and experience;

  • 32 leave days of which a max. of 7 days can be appointed as collective leave days;
  • a pension scheme;
  • a variable bonus;
  • extensive learning and (personal) development possibilities;
  • an adequate travel allowance;
  • collective health insurance (optional);
  • flexible working hours.
