THE POSITION

Within our Finance and Control department we have the Global Financial Shared Service Center. The primary aim of our Global Financial Shared Service Center (GFSSC) is to provide efficient and consistent centralized accounting and payroll services to projects, Business Units, and staff departments within Van Oord. The GFSSC comprises six sub-teams, with the majority focusing on accounting tasks. These sub-teams operate in both Rotterdam and Dubai.


YOUR IMPACT

The sub-teams are handling diverse financial accounting functions, such as:

Procure to Pay:

•    Processing & paying supplier invoices.

•    Expense Management.

Order to Cash:

•    Processing intercompany invoices & Current account settlements.

•    Bank & cash processing.

Record to Report:

•    Month end & Quarterly reporting.

•    Maintaining the General Ledger.

Business Support:

•    Addressing non-standard or specialized financial tasks that require tailored solutions and personalized attention from the Business.

Global Payroll:

•    Executing Global Payroll responsibilities for various Collective Agreements.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a specific team or rotate among the various teams, contributing to their objectives and processes, potentially offering fresh perspectives and supporting streamlined operations.


Your workplace

You will be working from our head office in Rotterdam with a view on the beautiful Maas. You can start or end your working day at our own gym in the office. Of course there is also a possibility to work from home, but we would like to see you at the office as much as possible!

The whole GFSSC team consist of 68 people and 13 different nationalities, divided over the sub-teams. You will get a buddy to help you making your way into the company. You can learn a lot from your colleagues, and we value an open learning environment. The Global Financial Shared Service Center is expanding at Van Oord, and you can contribute to this growth!


ABOUT YOU

  • You will potentially work within various teams, requiring the ability to set priorities, plan, organise, and maintain a flexible work attitude.  Moreover, you should possess:
  • A Finished a Bachelor in Finance & Control, Business Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. 
  • You are an EU citizen.
  • Have 1 or 2 years’ experience in Accounting Departments.
  • You are available as of August 2024.
  • Proficiency in both verbal and written English.
  • Residency in the Netherlands;
  • Strong communication and social skills.


Your responsibilities

As a key member of the Business Support team within our Global Financial Shared Service Center, you will engage in diverse and challenging financial accounting tasks that are crucial to our operations. Here’s what you can expect to contribute and develop in your role:


•    Financial Solutions: Contribute to tailored accounting activities such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bank posting, and Intercompany invoicing or other various administrative tasks to meet the unique needs of our projects and departments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with global financial standards.

•    Financial Tracking: Keep track of balances from historical transactions and ensure they are current and accurate.

•    Cross department Collaboration: Work closely with other teams within the finance department and across the organization to ensure seamless financial operations.

•    Process Optimization: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements within the financial operations to increase efficiency and standardize financial processes.

•    Compliance and Control: Ensure all financial practices adhere to legal and regulatory requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial laws and standards to safeguard the company against financial risks.

•    System Proficiency: Utilize ERP system UBW and consolidation software OneStream to enhance financial reporting and analysis.

•    Supporting Closing Procedures: Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures to support other colleagues in your team as needed.
