At Van Oord, we are constantly working on our fleet of offshore and dredging vessels. We prepare them for new projects and make constant adjustments to make them work optimally and meet all requirements.
In our Inhouse Engineering team, part of the Ship Management Department, you will work on ship mobilizations. Your primary focus area is the design and development of safe and efficient setups of deck equipment that will be used on our projects after mobilization. You work together with colleagues such as Project Engineers, Technical Superintendents and Project Managers, as well as suppliers to achieve the best result.
Which tasks are for you?
- Designing and drawing deck layout drawings, based on ideas and wishes of the internal customer;
- Designing deck foundations for the equipment to be placed and developing them into accurate and workable production drawings;
- Developing solutions for modifications to existing equipment;
- Consultation with colleagues and suppliers about technical specifications and the realization of the designs;
- Depending on location, incidental workshop inspections and construction supervision;
- Archiving your designs and documentation;
- If you make strength calculations, that's an advantage!
In addition to these primary tasks, you can also be deployed for the development and updating of drawings of ship constructions and/or mechanical engineering equipment.
- You have at least MBO or HBO Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture working and thinking level;
- You have demonstrable work experience with 2D AutoCAD and a 3D package (preferably Solid Edge or Inventor);
- You can draw efficiently, level of detail depending on the application;
- You can keep following procedures in balance with sufficient own initiative;
- You have a command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing.
