Cost Engineer Dredging

Are you the Cost Engineer who will help us win tenders for prominent dredging and marine engineering projects? Then this is the vacancy for you!

YOUR IMPACT

As a Cost Engineer you will work on projects around the world that vary in difficulty: deepening of shipping lanes, coastal protection, construction of new land, construction of ports, etc. Together with the tender team (including tender manager, production engineer, planner, risk engineer) you are responsible for the budgeting and production of winning tender documents for multidisciplinary and complex projects, in which we are increasingly the main contractor. You will have regular meetings with commercially responsible colleagues about cost estimates, opportunities and risks involved in the execution of these projects.

  • Preparing cost estimates for various tenders;
  • Collecting relevant information from the production, engineering and purchasing departments and during visits to the project sites;
  • Translate this data into budgets with corresponding schedules and work descriptions;
  • Preparing work budgets and providing support during the realization phase of the project.

ABOUT YOU

You are inquisitive by nature and an independent team player. You can take knowledge and experience from the outside world and projects and translate it into good estimates. You want to discover new things, gain knowledge and immerse yourself in the field, you do not take things at face value. You can weigh up costs and benefits (technology) and have strong analytical and numerical skills. Do you meet the following job requirements? Then we look forward to receiving your application for this vacancy.

  • You have a Bachelor or Master degree in civil engineering or with a maritime specialization;
  • You have experience as a Cost Engineer, or experience in a position in the implementation (e.g. Superintendent), within in the maritime sector;
  • You have experience with, or are willing to learn about, the preparation of cost estimates for marine and/or civil engineering projects;
  • You are willing to work abroad occasionally to learn about projects or complete tenders locally;
  • You have a good command of the English language.

WE OFFER YOU

We offer you a position in which you will have an important contribution to our mission 'building a better world for future generations'. In addition, we offer you:

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience;
  • Travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home office allowance (€2,15 per day);
  • 32 leave days per year;
  • Variable bonus;
  • Pension scheme;
  • Collective health insurance (optional);
  • Flexible working from home policy, 2 days a week when working on a full-time basis;
  • Extensive learning and (personal) development possibilities, including a wide range of online courses via Goodhabitz;
  • You can join communities, like Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women and the Van Oord staff association;
  • We organise several (sport) events, e.g. winter sport, weekend of sailing, cycling and a motorcycle tour.
