Do you want all the benefits of working for a large international organisation combined with the personal approach of a project solid team on board of our state-of-the-art equipment? Then read about what Van Oord can offer you.

THE POSITION

As a Second Engineer on our Water Injection Dredgers, you will responsible for cutting-edge dredging and propulsion systems, working on state-of-the-art vessels. Water injection dredging fluidizes the seabed, making it possible to move sediment efficiently and precise.

In this role, you’re working as a single engineer on board with support from our on shore expertise centres.  You are maintaining the optimal performance of the equipment and ensuring smooth operations. Our water injection vessels are highly automated and part of the fleet is young. So finding the bugs in the system and improving efficiency together with technical support, is part of the job.

As a key part of our team, you’ll collaborate closely with engineers and small team of crew members on board. You’ll be tasked with not only maintaining cutting-edge dredging technology but also enhancing it, ensuring that Van Oord continues to set the standard for quality and innovation in dredging worldwide.

YOUR IMPACT

Operate & Optimize: Take charge of water injection dredging systems, managing water pressure and flow to fluidize the seabed for efficient sediment removal.

Maintain & Innovate: Lead the charge in maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing water injection systems. From pumps to nozzles, you'll ensure everything is running at peak performance.

Prioritize Safety & Compliance: Champion the safety of your team and the environment by adhering to strict safety protocols and regulatory standards, ensuring that operations are always carried out safely and responsibly. Collaborate & Lead: Work hand-in-hand with the Chief Engineer, First Engineer, and your crew to make sure every aspect of the operation runs like a well-oiled machine.

Document & Report: Keep track of all operational data, provide insightful reports on equipment performance, and assist in identifying and solving any issues that arise.

At Van Oord, your workplace is dynamic, collaborative, and built around innovation and sustainability. As a Second Engineer - Water Dredging Injection (< 500 GT), you’ll work aboard state-of-the-art dredging vessels, where teamwork and precision are key. The environment is challenging and fast-paced, requiring adaptability and problem-solving. It is also supportive and focused on continuous learning and development. You’ll be supported by experienced, shore based, engineers who are driven by a shared passion for advancing marine engineering like you.
