From deep under water to high in the sky, our projects are often unique and without exception packed with technical, financial and organizational challenges. You will become part of the team that specializes in working with Geodata issues.
You will be involved in various offshore projects. You will work in those projects with the engineers and Surveyor to provide the right spatial insights to the project team. You perform GIS analyses using the available project information and if necessary you manage the associated data in the GIS portal. You have attention to detail and look for opportunities to automate the dataflows to facilitate more efficient ways of working. Thanks to you, our project team always has up-to-date spatial information, the basis for a safe and feasible project. This gives you a unique opportunity to make a concrete contribution to developing the use of GIS within Van Oord's challenging projects.
YOUR IMPACT
Within the organization you are jointly responsible for providing GIS expertise and support to tenders and projects, such as “offshore wind farms or cable laying activities”. You oversee the use of GIS data and data flows and support optimal functionality needed in the preparation and execution of projects. You are responsible for:
- Automating and organizing the Geo-information circulating within the project so that it is available to all project participants at the right time;
- Exchanging knowledge gained in the various Offshore projects;
- Advising the project team on how data products can be created and what data is needed to do so;
- Identifying opportunities to innovate within processes and applications;
- Delivering GIS data to the customer according to the specified standards such as SSDM and customer specific requirements.
YOUR WORKPLACE
You will work as a Geodata Engineer within Van Oord's Survey GIS team. The Survey GIS team supports multiple projects at home and abroad. From the head office and our office in Gorinchem the team supports the project organizations by providing the right spatial data at the right time.
ABOUT YOU
You get energy from advising and helping your internal and external clients. You do this independently and with a sense of responsibility, because you get a lot of freedom. You are eager to learn and have in-depth knowledge of how to work with GIS software such as: ArcGis, Qgis, Web-GIS and FME. Furthermore, you bring:
- At least 5-6 years of work experience in a similar position;
- Ability to connect knowledge and skills to various activities;
- Creativity, an analytical and results-oriented approach to issues;
- Knowledge of Python or FME for scripting analyses, data conversions or automating data flows;
- Excellent command of the English language both verbally and in writing.
